Bounce opens bookings for its first EV, looks to raise more capital

Scooter rental startup Bounce on Thursday started taking bookings for its first electric scooter that it plans to start selling by March next year as the company joins a long list of non-automotive companies in India looking to ride the transition to electric mobility.

Capitalising on the momentum of opening bookings, Bounce also plans to raise a fresh round of capital in January. The funds will be used to invest in future product development and setting up and scaling a battery swapping network.

Taking a different approach than its peers, the Bengaluru-based company is betting big on battery swapping. It is one of the first in India to give the customer the option of buying its electric scooter without a battery, bringing the cost as low as Rs 45,100 for a scooter sold without batteries.
