Boeing says India will need nearly 2,500 new aircraft in two decades

New Delhi: To cater to growing travel demands, India would need around 2,400 aircraft in the next 20 years and around 85-90 per cent of them would be narrow-body, a senior executive of global aerospace giant Boeing said on Wednesday.

Indian airlines currently have around 600 aircraft in their fleet.

While narrow-body planes are smaller and used for short-haul routes, wide-body aircraft are used to fly on medium and long-haul routes.
