Boby Chemmanur group to invest Rs 250 crore in helicopter taxi service

Kochi: Boby Chemmanur International group with interest in jewellery, NBFCs, real estate and resorts, is launching helicopter taxi service starting with Kerala.

The group will acquire ten helicopters on wet lease in phases to ferry people to tourist destinations. “We will be investing Rs 250 crore in the venture,” said Jisso Baby, whole time director of the group.

To start with the group will launch services to Munnar and Thekkady from Kochi . The new service will be flagged off by Kerala tourism minister Kadakampalli Surendran on Tuesday. “The helicopter can accommodate five adults and the charges will be based on the distance,’’ said John Thomas, manager of Enhance Aviation Services that will be handling the operations of the service christened as Boby Heli Taxi.
