The latest report of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) on the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)’s expenditure between November 2019 and December 2022 states that the civic body’s bridge department awarded work orders to private contractors, without registering them with it. The report also stated that the BMC deliberately delayed the appointment of Quality Monitoring Agencies (QMA) for monitoring the improvement work taken up in CC roads.
The civic body’s rule states that any contractor who is being awarded work should register all the details of their company with the BMC and in case the contractor’s details are not pre-registered, the civic body must get them registered within three months from awarding the contract.
