Biofuels and green hydrogen: Need for PLI boost in Budget 2023

It is no secret that the focus of the Indian Government today is to make India the manufacturing destination of the world, in line with its “Make in India” and “Atmanirbhar Bharat” agenda. The two iterations of Production Linked Incentives (PLI) launched for the sectors so far have largely been successful in attracting investment commitments from both domestic and foreign manufacturers, thereby helping India inch closer to achieving its objectives. Now, while the PLI journey till date has been a commendable one, it is far from over and a lot remains to be done — especially in reducing India’s import dependence.
