Bengaluru civic body compensated none for pothole accidents in 7 months

BENGALURU: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has not paid a single penny in compensation to people who have lost their lives or sustained injuries because of potholes and bad roads in the past seven months. There have been three such deaths in September alone.

BBMP chief commissioner Gaurav Gupta said: “We’re willing to grant compensation to those to ask for it.”

Sources in the Palike, however, said those seeking compensation are made to run from pillar to post, tired out or just shooed away. While the compensation claims have to be placed before the road and infrastructure wing, the claimants turn up at the wrong places.
