Bengaluru: BBMP should make charging infrastructure must in buildings, say EV owners

BENGALURU: Electric vehicle owners in the city have urged Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) to amend town planning bylaws to make charging infrastructure mandatory in buildings.

According to BBMP’s draft building bylaw 2019, charging infrastructure for EVs should be provided in the area reserved for parking in all types of buildings. “All new and existing buildings proposed for modification with parking requirements of more than10 car parking slots shall be provided with charging points for every two car parking slots,” it reads.

“The EV AC charger shall be charged with either single phase or three-phase input conforming to Bharat Charger (BEVC-AC001) specifications and as per specifications amended from time to time.
