MUMBAI: Flying small aircraft models made of balsa wood or foam using radio control for aerobatic maneuvers is a century-old sport that has fallen into troubled times, at least in Mumbai. For four months, no aeromodelling activity has been conducted at the Mahalaxmi Racecourse, the only ground in Mumbai where this art, craft and sport is practiced. It’s the longest lull ever in the five decades that aeromodelling has been around at the Racecourse. The reason? To tighten security for a VVIP visit or to prepare the city for the anniversary of a terror attack, a national event and such.
