Aviation regulator asks airlines to keep fares as low as possible
New Delhi: The aviation regulator has asked airlines to keep a check on air fares amid a shortfall in capacity due to shrinking operations of Jet Airways (India) Ltd. and the recent grounding of the controversial Boeing 737 Max aircraft.
Officials of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) met airline industry executives on Tuesday to urge them to prevent an increase in ticket prices.
“Airlines were advised to continue to monitor at their level and provide information to the DGCA to keep fares low as far as possible,” an official privy to the development said after the meeting.
