Ather Energy to set up its second plant at Hosur, Tamil Nadu
Ather Energy, backed by India’s largest two-wheeler firm Hero MotoCorp NSE -0.39 % Ltd., plans to set up its second manufacturing facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, to cater to the growing demand for its electric scooters.
Once commissioned in 2022, the new facility—its second in the Hosur region—will expand its manufacturing capacity to 4 lakh vehicles per year from 1.20 lakh units at present, according to a statement released on Monday. The new plant will also focus on lithium-ion batteries—the most important component of an electric vehicle.
