Assembly stalled over power tariff hike

Pandemonium prevailed in the State Assembly on Wednesday as Opposition BJP and Congress robustly opposed the recent hike in electricity tariff. They demanded immediate rollback of the tariff hike alleging that it has affected the common people, who are already reeling under the adverse impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The BJP also raised the issue of the use of Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana (BPGY) logo by the State Government on the houses constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yajana-Gramin (PMAY-G).

Notably, The Centre has asked the State Government to refrain from co-branding PMAY-G houses with the logo of the Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana.

The Assembly witnessed several adjournments following the uproar by the opposition parties over the twin issues.
