Assam: Fire at OIL well during capping operations; final preparations underway
GUWAHATI: Crew members of OIL, ONGC, Alert, Schlumberger and other contractors are at the gas well site in Baghjan and the final preparations for placing capping stack is underway, Oil India Limited NSE 0.67 % (OIL) said in a statement.
The gas well site in Baghjan witnessed an inferno a month ago.
OIL stated that the capping stack was ready and wrapped with ceramic blanket and ceramic cloths. The team from IIT Guwahati completed data collection for thermal imaging and sound measurement at required areas under guidance of district officials and OIL team. Interpretation of the data will be carried out using specialized software at IIT Guwahati and the report will be submitted soon.
