On September 5, 2017, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Nay Pyi Taw on his first bilateral visit to Myanmar to chart out a roadmap for closer cooperation. The very next day, on September 6, a Rs 1,177 cr construction and maintenance of road contract funded by India for the Yagyi-Kalewa section in Myanmar was awarded to a jv of Punj Lloyd Ltd and Varaha Infra Ltd.
