Another Eastern Coalfields Limited GM arrested in coal pilferage scam, CBI says many more involved

The CBI on Friday arrested another retired general manager (GM) of Coal India subsidiary Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) in connection with the multi-crore coal pilferage scam, an officer said.

Former GM S K Mukhopadhyay was taken into custody on Friday and will be produced before a CBI court in Asansol on Saturday.

He was arrested after six hours of grilling at the CBI’s Kolkata office in Nizam Palace, the officer said.
