Andhra discoms clear Rs 600-crore dues to green power firms
BENGALURU: Power distribution companies in Andhra Pradesh have cleared all dues of renewable energy developers in accordance with a court directive, and scaled down the practice of reducing purchase of green power, bringing relief to the sector that has been under immense pressure in the state.
Sources close to the development said about Rs 600 crore has been paid to wind and solar developers. A hearing on the matter of pending payment was to be held Thursday.
The Andhra Pradesh High Court had on December 20 directed the discoms to clear the dues within four weeks. Developers had approached the high court seeking payment of dues, which had been unpaid for several months. “They didn’t want to disobey the court order, so they cleared it before the hearing,” said a source close to the development.
