Airports Authority of India asks operator to maintain standards in Delhi airport

NEW DELHI: In the wake of the chaos triggered by congestion at the Delhi airport’s Terminal 3 in recent days, Airports Authority of India (AAI) has asked Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) to maintain the service standards specified under the “operation, management and development agreement” (OMDA).

The airport is being run in PPP mode since 2006 with GMR-backed DIAL building the required infra and operating it for a pre-fixed number of decades while the ownership remains with the government. AAI has warned DIAL that subsequent action, if required, may be taken if things don’t improve.

Comments were sought from DIAL on the AAI missive and awaited till the time of going to press.
