Airlines owe AAI ₹2,500 cr in dues
Major airlines owe state-owned airport operator Airports Authority of India (AAI) over ₹2,500 crore in dues, an amount mostly made up of Air India’s dues of ₹2,218.81 crore, Union civil aviation minister Hardeep Singh Puri informed Parliament on Wednesday.
Other airlines with dues to AAI, the minister said in a written reply, are: SpiceJet Ltd ( ₹158.09 crore), IndiGo ( ₹11.11 crore), Alliance Air ( ₹106.28 crore), GoAir ( ₹50.26 crore), Air India Express ( ₹2.73 crore), Vistara ( ₹67 lakh), AirAsia India ( ₹27 lakh), Heritage Aviation Pvt. Ltd ( ₹4 lakh), Pawan Hans Ltd ( ₹1.94 crore), Turbo Mega Airways ( ₹11 lakh) and Godhawat Enterprises ( ₹33 lakh).
“AAI follows up with the airlines regularly for recovery of dues as per their credit policy,” Puri said. “Charging penal interest, encashment of security deposits along with resorting to legal courses are other measures available with AAI.”
