Airlines eye steady revenue from jab delivery after Mar

NEW DELHI : Airlines expect vaccine cargo load to pick up by March-April, if more covid-19 vaccines get government approval and enough doses are available for the mass inoculation drive, industry officials told Mint.

So far, IndiGo, SpiceJet, Vistara, GoAir and Air India have not seen significant contribution to cargo revenues from transport of vaccines for frontline workers, and are operating only limited flights. However, this is likely to change.

“Things are likely to change once vaccines are rolled out for mass inoculation and then the cargo revenue from vaccine transportation could actually have an impact on the financials,” said an official of a no-frills airline, seeking anonymity. “There will also be an opportunity to transport the vaccines internationally.”
