Airlines brace for turbulence amid wave of new travel bans

The revival of international flight operations from India is expected to be further delayed, with several countries imposing restrictions on travel to and from the country in a bid to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

The US, France, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Oman have put in place restrictions, while others like the United Arab Emirates, Canada, the UK, and New Zealand have banned flights from and to India.

Major Indian airlines like Air India and IndiGo, which have a considerable international network, now expect a delay in recovery of international flights, which typically bring in higher yields than domestic flights.
