As Air India looks at ways to cut cost, the national carrier has approved a leave without pay (LWP) scheme for its employees for six months to two years and can be extended up to five years.
The decision on the scheme, which is applicable on a voluntary basis or can be availed of for personal reasons, was taken by the airline’s Board on July 7 and notified yesterday.
The scheme is with an intent to reduce the salary bill of Air India, which stands at ₹ 250 crore a month.
