Air India to begin thermal screening of all employees: Chairman Rajiv Bansal

NEW DELHI: Air India will begin thermal screening of all its employees as part of steps to contain the spread of coronavirus. Air India chairman Rajiv Bansal has in a mail to all employees assured them that their “safety and health are as important to us as (of) our passengers. We are doing everything that an airline should be doing to minimise risk factors involving all our stakeholders.”
While reminding them to take basic precautionary steps like washing hands frequently, Bansal writes: “We have started focussing more on cleanliness and will also introduce thermal screening for all our employees…. We are taking every possible measure to ensure compliance with the best advice from medical authorities and the government for the safety of our passengers and you, my colleagues. The ground staff at check-in counters and boarding gates are wearing protective equipment appropriate for their role. The crew onboard are following personal protective measures as well.”
“Since this virus is transmitted through surfaces fast, our aircraft is cleansed with approved disinfectants. Most vulnerable areas — tray tables, armrests, overhead nozzles, lavatories, galleys are paid particular attention to.
