Air India sends ferry flight for stranded passengers in Russia

An Air India Delhi-San Francisco flight on Tuesday had to b diverted to Magadan, Russia due to a “technical issue” with one of its engines.

“The flight ( AI173)with 216 passengers and 16 crew was diverted to Magadan, Russia (GDX), where it had safely landed. We engaged with the local authorities at GDX that extended all cooperation and support upon the flight’s arrival at GDX,” said an airline spokesperson in a statement.

Meanwhile, pictures and videos of stranded passengers surfaced on the internet, including those of people sleeping on the floor.
