Air India owes Rs 4,500 crore in fuel dues; hasn’t paid in 200 days: Oil firms
NEW DELHI: A Rs 5,000 crore unpaid bill from Air India and its effect on the working capital requirements of state-run oil companies forced the latter to cut jet fuel supplies to the airline, Indian Oil Corp has said.
“Considering the huge outstanding from Air India and their ramifications for their working capital requirements, the three oil marketing companies have been constrained to take the decision of stoppage of fuel supply at six airports. However, Air India flights operating from the six airports, where ATF supplies have been suspended, have been tanking up from other airports,” Indian Oil said in a statement.
Indian Oil, Hindustan Petroleum and Bharat Petroleum jointly decided to halt supplies to Air India and Alliance Air flights from the evening of 22nd August at six airports of Kochi, Mohali, Pune, Ranchi, Patna and Visakhapatnam. The Rs 5000 crore outstanding from Air India includes the interest on the unpaid bill.
