Air India has renewed partnerships with Global Distribution Systems (GDS) partners Amadeus, Sabre, and Travelport that will help it offer travel agents, resellers, and corporations around the world to access Air India’s seat inventory and fares.
“Air India’s new expanded agreements with the GDS partners now include the delivery of New Distribution Capability (NDC) products that provide travellers benefits such as personalised pricing, attractive fare bundles, and new ancillaries,” the company said.
Tata Group-backed Air India said it has broadened its collaboration with Travelport to encompass the distribution and support of NDC content, allowing Travelport subscribers to effectively promote and offer Air India’s branded products and additional services.
Air India’s distribution agreements with Amadeus and Sabre have been expanded to include the domestic content as well as distribution and servicing of NDC content, it said.
Airlines use GDS systems such as Amadeus, Sabre and Travelport to distribute their tickets to travel agents globally for a fee.
“The current, Take Off phase in Air India’s ongoing transformation and modernization programme is about laying the building blocks across commercial functions and operations to support future growth. The strengthening of our distribution network and renegotiation of GDS contracts is an important step in that direction, aimed at driving greater commercial efficiencies and success, as we rapidly build for the future,” said Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial & Transformation Officer, Air India.
Aggarwal said India’s aviation industry is experiencing unprecedented growth and Air India’s choice of technology partners, Amadeus, Sabre, and Travelport, perfectly aligns with their commitment to harness the vast potential presented by transformative initiatives and expansion. These renewed collaborations will help Air India to embrace contemporary retailing practices, present our products on a global stage, tap into new markets, and broaden our customer reach, the official added.
