Air India crosses 10-lakh mark of flying people in & out of India during Covid
NEW DELHI: The Air India Group has flown over 10 lakh people in and out of India during the pandemic. The Maharaja, which has flown to 75 destinations in 54 countries operating 7,791 flights since the launch of Vande Bharat Mission flights on May 7, has described it as “one of the biggest evacuation exercise by any civilian airline in the world.”
Another 1,600 international flights are planned till the year-end. These flights have been operated under VBM and air bubble arrangements India has with about 20 countries.
“Air India’s bravehearts comprising pilots, crew, engineers, groundsmen had been out of their home and homeland to bring their countrymen home or take foreigners home in a selfless act. Since inception, AI has always stood by the nation during its hour of need… every Air Indian believes that ‘if we don’t do it, then who will?’,” the airline said in a statement.
