AIPEF questions advisory on coal import

The All India Power Engineers Federation has raised questions on the advisory sent by the Central government to state-owned power generating companies to import coal.

It asked why were the big power stations of private houses running on imported coal closed despite the power crisis.

According to the order issued by the Union Energy Ministry, all thermal power stations have to issue purchase orders for imported coal by May 31, 2022 and 50 per cent delivery should be made by June 30, 2022, 40 per cent by August 31, 2022 and the remaining 10 per cent delivery should be ensured by October 31, 2022.
