AIPEF opposes Centre’s guidelines for power distribution sector

All India Power Engineers’ Federation (AIPEF) has demanded that the state government reject the draft guidelines for a new reform-based power sector scheme aimed at providing reliable 24×7 electricity to all the consumers across the country.

The Centre, prior to the launch of a new reform-based power sector scheme, has circulated the draft guidelines to the states. The Centre has asked the states to send their comments/suggestions, if any, by March 24.

AIPEF Chairman Shailendra Dubey said the reform programme was yet another attempt to privatise the power distribution in the state. He said Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the 2021-22 Budget had announced Rs 3.05 lakh crore for the reform-based result-linked scheme for the period of five years for the viability of the power distribution companies (discoms).
