AIACE calls for wider discussion before separating Coal India’s exploration and planning arm

Kolkata: All India Association of Coal Executives (AIACE) have proposed formation of a high-powered committee for wider consultation of the proposal of separation of Coal IndiaNSE 3.28 %’s (CILNSE 2.86 %) exploration, planning & design arm from the company and for protection of employees’ interests.

AIACE, an association of serving and retired executives of CIL, in a letter to the coal minister said that coal executives are apprehending separation of exploration arm — Central Mines Planning and Design Institute (CMPDIL) from Coal India.

The move, according to AIACE, is probably intended to open the door for private coal companies to utilize CMPDIL’s services. Out of the eight subsidiaries of CIL, seven are coal producing companies while CMPDI is its exploration, planning & design arm acting like the brain of CIL, it said in its letter to the coal minister.
