AI flights to US, Europe, Seoul and Auckland next week, outbound ticket sales from Saturday

NEW DELHI: Air India will operate additional flights from Delhi to Chicago, New York, Stockholm, Frankfurt, Seoul and Auckland on June 4 and 5; and from Mumbai to London and Newark on June 6; under Vande Bharat Mission. AI will start taking bookings for those eligible to fly out on these flights under government guidelines from 11 am on Saturday. For scores of Indians working, studying abroad AI is the only airline offering flights during the coronavirus crisis.
This is the first time AI will be flying to New Zealand ever. The Vande Bharat Mission as seen the airline fly to Vancouver for the first time earlier this month, but Toronto has been a destination for the Maharaja since last year. “Once travel restrictions are lifted and corona goes away, we will like to start regular operations to Auckland and Vancouver. There is tremendous demand for travel by Indians on these sectors. There has never been a regular nonstop commercial service between India and New Zealand and AI will like be the first to do so,” said an airline official.
AI started special flights to fly back Indians stranded abroad with the Corona-epicentre Wuhan, China, on January 31.
