AI clears Covid-time backlog, says refunds in 2-3 days now
NEW DELHI: Air India, under its new owner, the Tata Group, cleared Covid-time refunds for 2.5 lakh tickets amounting to Rs 150 crore.
Going ahead, the airline said it has put in place a system to reduce the processing time of refund to 2-3 days.
Putting its hand-to-mouth state-owned days behind it, a well-capitalized AI, now owned by the Tatas, said in a statement on Monday: “As of today, an eligible refund request lodged on the Air India website will typically be processed by the airline within 2-3 days. Subsequent processing by banks and/or credit card companies, which is beyond the airline’s control, can add another two weeks before customers see the refund (minus any fees deducted in accordance with the tickets’ conditions of sale) in their accounts. In the case of bookings made via travel agents, the refund is made to the travel agent who is then responsible for disbursing to traveller.”
