Ahead of Lok Sabha polls, Centre announces ‘PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana’ – 1 crore families to get 300 units of free electricity
The Narendra Modi Cabinet approved the ‘PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana’ on Thursday. Under the scheme, rooftop solar panels in one crore households with a total outlay of Rs 75,021 crores.
The scheme was announced on February 13, 2024, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi which aims to encourage people to install solar panels on their rooftops.
The scheme offers a central financial assistance: 30,000 subsidy for 1 kW systems, 60,000 for 2 kW, and 78,000 for 3 kW or higher.
