After light-and-sound show, iconic Howrah bridge could get dynamic screen

An innovative project to beautify the iconic Rabindra Setu (popularly known as Howrah Bridge), is currently under consideration,

The Kolkata Port Trust—now called Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port (SPMP)—has envisioned putting up a giant mesh screen—somewhat like a billboard but without the bulky, ugly flex boards—on the bridge that could be used to advertise social messages and visuals and can be easily seen by people from afar.

The SPMP, in collaboration with a private entity, is in the process of galvanizing central funds for the project.

“In our first phase, we spent Rs 17 crore. Right now, we have dynamic lighting which is computer-controlled. On different occasions, different types of lighting are possible,” said Vinit Kumar, chairman of SPMP.
