After first hike in months, petrol, diesel prices steady. Check today’s rates
Petrol and diesel prices remained steady today after the rates of the fuel were hiked on Sunday, the first increase in many months. Petrol today retailed at ₹72.01 a litre in Delhi, ₹74.65 in Kolkata, ₹77.67 in Mumbai and ₹74.81 in Chennai. Diesel today cost ₹64.7 a litre in Delhi, ₹67.02 in Kolkata, ₹67.8 in Mumbai and ₹68.32 in Chennai. Petrol and diesel prices were hiked by 5-7 paise on Sunday.
In global markets, oil prices tumbled 3% today as investors worried about oil demand as the coronavirus spread rapidly in several countries outside China. Brent crude fell by $1.69 or 2.9% to $56.81 a barrel.
South Korea’s government put the country on high alert after the number of infections surged to over 700 with seven deaths, while in Italy the number of cases jumped to above 150 from just three before Friday.
