900 pilots, 4,200 cabin crew: Air India to go on hiring spree after record aircraft deal

NEW DELHI: After a mega deal with Airbus and Boeing, Air India now plans to hire over 4,200 cabin crew and 900 pilots this year as the airline looks to revamp its fleet.

Earlier this month, the Tata Group-owned airline signed a whopping $80 billion deal with Airbus and Boeing to purchase 470 aircraft. It also plans to lease 36 aircraft and out of them, two B 777-200 LR have already been inducted.

As part of the deal, Air India will purchase 220 aircraft from Airbus and 250 from Boeing as part of its comprehensive transformation plan to once again establish itself as a world-class global airline. This is one of the largest aircraft order by any airline in civil aviation history.
