877,000 electric vehicles plying on Indian roads, UP tops states with maximum EVs

NEW DELHI: India currently has 877,000 electric vehicles on Indian roads, and Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Karnataka have emerged as the main three states for electric vehicle enlistments, Minister of State for Heavy Industries Krishan Pal Gurjar said in a written reply in the Lok Sabha.
EV registrations in November 2021 were driven largely by electric two-wheelers and passenger-type electric three-wheelers, which together accounted for 92% of total registrations in the month, shows data analyzed by JMK Research. The shares of these categories are followed by cargo-type electric three-wheelers (3.9%), e-car (3.7%).
Among all the states and UTs, Uttar Pradesh continues to have maximum monthly registered EV sales with a 20% share in overall sales in India in November 2021. Maharashtra has the 2nd highest sales at 11% share, followed by Karnataka (9%), Rajasthan (9%), Delhi (9%), and Rajasthan (8%), said the report by JMK Research.
