71,857 tonne coal missing from Tuticorin thermal station, says Tamil Nadu power minister V Senthil Balaji

CHENNAI: After alleging that 2.38 lakh tonne of coal worth ₹85 crore was missing from North Chennai thermal power station, state power minister V Senthil Balaji on Tuesday said in the assembly that 71,857 tonne of coal was missing from Tuticorin thermal power station.

After coming to know about large quantity of coal missing from the North Chennai plant, the government had ordered inspection at Tuticorin thermal plant. Balaji was providing details of the inspection carried out at Tuticorin plant.

Balaji said based on the final report of the high-level committee that probed the coal stock discrepancy, action would be initiated against all those who were responsible for the loot.
