6 excavators for OTPCL project torched
Miscreants torched as many as six excavators used for construction of houses for people displaced for the Odisha Thermal Power Corporation Limited (OTPCL) new township project at Anlabereni in Dhenkanal district late on Friday night.
The miscreants set fire to a total of 11 the excavators, of which six were completely gutted, said contractor Himanshu Das.Receiving information, Fire services personnel rushed to the site and doused the flames.
The Pandua police outpost in-charge under the Tumusingha police station began a probe into the incident.
Notably, the construction of a new plant of the OTPCL is in progress. The project is opposed by locals. Amidst tension, the miscreants set the machines on fire in the new township project site.
