4 more flights to bring 208 migrants from Leh this week
Four more chartered flights, carrying more than 200 stranded migrants, is scheduled to land in Ranchi’s Birsa Munda Airport from Monday from Leh in continuation of efforts spearheaded by chief minister Hemant Soren, who has also appealed to corporates to help migrant labourers reach home.
Officials announced on Sunday that the four flights will be carrying 55, 60, 43 and 50 passengers respectively. The flights will land here on Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday. The first flight will land here at 10am on Monday and the second at 7.40pm on Tuesday, officials said.
The Jharkhand government had airlifted 60 stranded labourers from Leh last week in an initiative which received appreciation from all parts of the country. By the end of this week, the government will have successfully rescue 268 migrant labourers from Leh if everything goes as per plan.
