2 NHAI officials from Assam held for bribery
The CBI on Monday arrested an Accounts Officer and a Junior Accounts Officer, both of Regional Office, National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), Dispur, Guwahati (Assam) and three employees including Executive Director of a private company based at Gurugram (Haryana) in a bribery case of ` 4 lakh. The agency recovered cash to the tune of ` 2.33 crore from the premises of Executive Director of the private company GR Infraprojects Ltd. after searches.
After registering the case, the CBI laid a trap and caught both the public servants — NHAI Accounts Officer Dipak Das and Junior Accounts Officer Manoj Kumar—for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 4 lakh from an employee of the said private company, the CBI said in a statement. The three private persons arrested are Executive Director Sunil Kumar Agarwal and two other staffers of GR Infraprojects Ltd., Gurugram Searches were conducted at 15 places including Guwahati, Bengaluru, Gurugram, Shillong and Patna at the premises of the accused.
