16 injured in a cylinder blast in Mumbai’s Lalbaug

At least sixteen persons were injured – 10 of them critically as a cylinder blast and caused a fire in the Lalbaug area of Mumbai on Sunday morning.

The fire was reported from the second floor of the four-storeyed Sarabhai Building at Ganesh Gully in Lalbaug.

Twelve of those injured have been sent to King Edward Memorial Hospital while four others have been rushed to Global Hospital.

Of the 12 injured in KEM Hospital, six suffered 70 to 80 per cent burns and are critical. Four other patients in Global Hospital suffered 70 to 95 per cent burns and still battling for life.

Officials of the Mumbai Police and BrihanMumbai Electricity Supply and Transport visited the building and conducted the investigations into the incident.
