New Delhi: Outside Delhi airport’s departure terminal, a young couple with a toddler — their child fast asleep on the mother’s lap — sat glued to their phones as the father repeatedly tried reaching IndiGo’s customer care helpline after yet another cancellation. Their flight to Mizoram had been cancelled for the second day in a row on Thursday, they said, and the only alternative being offered was a rebooking costing nearly Rs 50,000 — without any assurance that the family would get seats on the same flight.

“We came yesterday as well and returned after waiting for hours when the flight was cancelled. Today, it’s the same story,” the woman said, adding that they had travelled to Delhi for a family function and were now trying to get back home. “Our work is getting affected too now.”
