The state housing and urban development Minister Madan Kaushik said that the State Government has prepared and implemented a ‘Waste to Energy Policy’ for the solid waste disposal in the urban areas of the State.
In response to a question in the State Assembly on Wednesday, the Minister said that efforts are being made to set up trenching grounds in all the urban local bodies of the State. “Out of 92 urban local bodies, 51 have provided the land required for construction of trenching grounds while the district magistrates of remaining bodies have been directed to provide land soon,’’ he said. The Minister added that door to door collection of waste is being done in 914 wards out of total 1,162 municipal wards spread across the State.
