VVIP chopper scandal: Local court allows ‘accused’ Rajiv Saxena to travel to Ireland; CBI moves HC
NEW DELHI: A local court has permitted Rajiv Saxena, an accused-turned-approver in the Rs 3,600-crore VVIP chopper scandal, to travel abroad even as the Central Bureau of Investigation filed a supplementary charge sheet making Saxena an accused again.
Saxena had sought permission to travel to Ireland to attend a wedding ceremony of his daughter as per Irish custom.
The Enforcement Directorate, which is also investigating the alleged bribery case over a 2010 agreement to buy 12 AW101 helicopters from AgustaWestland for Rs 3,600 crore, opposed Saxena’s plea, expressing apprehension that he might not return to India if allowed to travel abroad.
