Vijay Mallya accuses PSU banks of double standards after Jet bailout

Vijay Mallya, who has been declared a wilful defaulter and a fugitive in India, on Tuesday posted a series of tweets lashing out at state-owned banks for “double standards” under the NDA government for their intervention to bail out Jet AirwaysNSE 3.82 % while the same lenders caused his Kingfisher AirlinesNSE -11.11 % to “fail ruthlessly”.

A day after lenders to Jet Airways announced their decision to take over the cash-strapped airline and infuse cash to stabilise operations with immediate effect, Mallya said he wished public sector banks had relented similarly while handling the loan default of Kingfisher that went bust seven years ago due to nonpayment of dues.
