UK quietly eases Russian oil sanctions as petrol prices climb to highest since 2022 amid Iran conflict
Britain has stepped back from a planned crackdown on Russian oil products entering the country via third-party nations. The government confirmed on Wednesday that new restrictions on imports of jet fuel and diesel refined from Russian crude will now be introduced gradually rather than all at once as originally planned.
According to the BBC, the shift comes as the closure of the Strait of Hormuz following the conflict between the United States and Iran has disrupted global energy supplies and pushed fuel costs to their highest levels since December 2022.
