Two-year extension for commissioning projects under solar PLI scheme

The government has allowed up to two years’ extension for commissioning projects under the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for solar equipment manufacturing, renewable energy secretary Santosh Kumar Sarangi told ET.

The move, approved by the empowered group of secretaries headed by cabinet secretary TV Somanathan, follows industry requests, citing delays in procuring capital goods. Many of those who had committed to ingot-wafers and polysilicon manufacturing could not source their capital goods “because of a variety of reasons,” Sarangi said. “So, they were seeking an extension.” The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) had moved a proposal to the panel in this regard.
