The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has earmarked Rs 84 crore that will be utilised by 24 civic ward offices to repair potholes and patches on the roads in Mumbai ahead of monsoon.
The fund is being distributed to each and every civic ward based on the area of square meter of the total stretch of roads that passes through each ward.
The civic body uses bitumen and asphalt for repairing the patches and the cost of repair is around Rs 4,000 for every square metre. The highest allotment of Rs 6.5 crore has been made to K/West ward–covering Andheri West, Juhu and Versova areas–which has 16,250 square metre of road.
