TNPDCL simplifies electricity meter transfer process

Chennai: To simplify transfer of electricity services to current property owners, Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Ltd (TNPDCL) has instructed field officials not to insist on a consent form from the previous owner. The name-transfer process should be completed upon submission of just two relevant documents, such as a sale deed or legal heir certificates. These instructions follow feedback from consumers who submitted applications for name transfer at Ungaludan Stalin grievance redressal campaign.

After consumers complained that TNPDCL officers asked for three to four documents for name transfer at Ungaludan Stalin grievance redressal campaign, energy department wrote to TNPDCL to address the matter.
