TN govt urged to speed up implementation of central solar scheme
COIMBATORE: Indian Solar Association president C Narasimhan on Thursday urged the Tamil Nadu govt to speed up implementation of the central govt’s PM Surya Ghar solar scheme. He said only 17,000 rooftop solar systems have been installed in Tamil Nadu under the scheme while neighbouring Kerala has installed two lakh such systems.
Narasimhan was speaking after inaugurating the Global Solar Expo -2025 at the Codissia Trade Fair Complex in Coimbatore. He said around four lakh applications were waiting for approval in Kerala. He said Rajasthan is leading in ground-mounted solar power generation, followed by Gujarat, Maharashtra and Karnataka.
