Thermal power capacity addition expected to touch 12 GW this financial year
New Delhi: India is likely to add around 12 GW of thermal power capacity in the current financial year, higher than last year’s addition of 4,530 MW, people in the know said.
The anticipated addition is in line with the target given by the power ministry for the fiscal and holds importance as thermal capacity targets in the last few years have been missed by high margins.
The thermal power capacity added in FY25 was 70% lower than the target for the fiscal. Similarly, in FY24 it was 63% lower at 5,404 MW, while in FY23 it was 77% lower at 1,460 MW.
